SEREMBAN: Several assailants are believed to have killed an estate manager during his routine 500m drive from his bungalow to his office in Ladang Perhentian Tinggi, Jalan Seremban-Tampin, near Sungai Gadut early yesterday.

In the 6:20am incident, Lau Ah Kaw, 72, had just left his residence situated on a hilltop on a 728ha oil palm estate when several men approached him.

An estate worker, who also stays at the bungalow, said he was awaken from his sleep after hearing a commotion outside the house.

He said he saw Lau and several men at the front gate. However, he could not see the men's faces as it was still dark.

Fearing for the worse, he telephoned other estate workers and they informed the guard who was on duty at the security post outside the estate's office.

It was learnt that when the guard and several workers went to look for Lau, they found the estate manager's Perodua Kembara about 50m from the gate.

They found Lau's organiser (diary), several shirt buttons and his watch on the ground.

Ten minutes later, the group found Lau's body 10m away.

Lau's head was inside a plastic garbage bag, while his hands and feet were bound with masking tape.

Seremban district police chief Assistant Commissioner Zainal Abu said they were awaiting Lau's post-mortem results to ascertain cause of death.
