Overwhelming Response To KL Marathon 2014

KUALA LUMPUR, May 5 (Bernama) -- The number of Standard Chartered KL Marathon 2014 participants registered so far has surpassed the target of 35,000.

Standard Chartered Bank, in a statement Monday, said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin was the first runner to sign up at the official launch of the marathon last Thursday.

The marathon scheduled for Oct 12 starting at Dataran Merdeka will see the introductions of new routes as well as a 16 per cent increase in prize purse to US$116,740 (RM376,524).

The KL Marathon themed 'Confident. Committed. Courageous' involves 11 categories, including a full marathon (42km) and a half marathon (21km).
