Mydin Customers Can Now Pay With Touch 'n Go Card

KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 (Bernama) --Customers at the Mydin shopping centre can now make e-payment for their shopping using the Touch 'n Go (TNG) card.

Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin said for a start, the e-payment using the TNG card would be available at its 11 branches in several states.

They included at Mydin Subang Jaya, Seremban 2, Jasin and Bukit Jambul, he told a media conference when launching the service at the Mydin Hypermarket Subang Jaya today.

Ameer Ali said Mydin was targetting to offer the service at all its 222 business premises nationwide this year.

Customers could also top-up their TNG card to up to RM1,500 at the payment counters, he added.

Meanwhile, Touch 'n Go Sdn Bhd (TNGSB) chief executive officer, Abdul Karim Md Lassim, said the cooperation with Mydin was a transformation move by the company to enable its 7.5 million active card holders to expand the use of the card.

Currently, only seven per cent of the active card holders use the card for other purchasing transactions, besides for toll payment, he added.

"The introduction of this e-payment service is an initiative by TNGSB to change the culture of the Malaysian society, from using cash to cashless," he added.

He said it was also to meet TNGSB's target of increasing its annual registration of TNG card holders from 2.5 million to 4.5 million.

There are currently more than 2,000 business premises offering TNG micro-payment facility through TNGSB's cooperation with 38 companies.
