BUMIPUTERA Agenda Steering Unit (Teraju) has partnered Emkay Group to fast-track the Bumiputera agenda through various property projects in Cyberjaya, Selangor, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM2 billion for the next five years.
The partnership will offer opportunities for 100 Bumiputera vendors and create more than 10,000 jobs in Cyberjaya.
Teraju chief executive officer Husni Salleh said the deal will involve a Bumiputera vendor development programme that has five main work areas — main contractors, subcontractors, specialist contractors, consultants, and supplies and services.
“Collaboration between Teraju and government and private sectors have created enablers and human capital development for Bumiputera entrepreneurs worth RM21.2 billion to date,” Husni said at the signing of the partnership, here, yesterday.
He added that firms with annual revenue of RM40 million are eligible for the programme.
Emkay Group executive director Ahmad Khalif Mustapha Kamal said the company aims to achieve RM1 billion in sales this year with the launch of several projects in Cyberjaya in the second half of the year.
“The group has achieved about 40 per cent of the target and believes sales will pick up in the third quarter.”
He said the group, with a landbank of more than 80ha in Cyberjaya, is aiming to have projects with a total GDV of more than RM4 billion over the next five years.
Teraju was set up to drive Bumiputera economic participation through existing and new initiatives.
