SEREMBAN: The ashes of Captain Eugene Choo Jin Leong, one of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 pilots, will be at his residence at Sri Carcosa near here until Thursday for family members and friends to pay their last respect.
A representative of Choo's family, Jacob Lim, 44, said following that, the ashes would then be taken to the Xiao En Memorial Park, previously known as the Nilai Memoral Park in Nilai to be interred.
On behalf of Choo's family, he thanked the Malaysian government for repatriating Choo's remains from the Netherlands.
"Although saddened by the loss of her husband and father to her two sons, the wife is happy that the remains of her husband was found and his ashes brought home," he told reporters at Choo's residence here today.
Meanwhile, MCA Youth Chief Senator Chong Sin Woon, who was present to pay his last respect to the victim, said the party would extend the necessary assistance to Choo's family, like counselling, if needed.
The urn containing Choo's ashes was among four urns and five caskets containing the remains of nine MH17 victims which arrived at the KL International Airport (KLIA) from Amsterdam today.
After the ceremony at the Bunga Raya Complex of KLIA, the urn containing Choo's ashes was taken to his residence.
Choo is survived by wife, Ivy Loi, 42, and two sons, Melvic Choo, 13, and Scott Choo, 10.
MH17 was carrying 298 passengers and crew when it crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, while heading to Kuala Lumpur from Amsterdam.
