PR1MA To Build 2,000 More Houses At Seremban Sentral

SEREMBAN: Perbadanan 1Malaysia People's Housing Programme (PR1MA) will build 2,000 more affordable houses, in addition of 3,196 high-rise residential units being constructed at the Seremban Sentral housing project here.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak announced the latest development on PR1MA projects, which is an initiative by the government to provide affordable homes to middle income earners, during the groundbreaking ceremony of Seremban Sentral, here, earlier today.

Najib said the houses will be built on a 40-acre land area near the 57-acre site of ongoing PR1MA Seremban Sentral construction site here.

He also announced that Sime Darby has agreed to sell a 1,000-acre land area in Labu, near here, to PR1MA for the building of another 10,000 affordable houses there.

"Barisan Nasional government always puts high priority to the needs of the people.

"A study conducted found that the need for proper housing makes the top in the people's demand.

"PR1MA had also found that 50 per cent of their target groups are the young Malaysians of below age 35, and half of them are single men and women. This is the target group for PR1MA projects, besides those who are starting to have their own family ," Najib said during his launching speech at the ceremony.

He said in a realisation of that needs, the government set up PR1MA which has became one of its core agenda in building the nation.

Najib said in providing houses for the target groups, PR1MA does not only build residential areas just for the sake of it, but making a comfortable and quality homes that are sold in affordable price range.

The prime minister also said that while the prices for PR1MA houses at Seremban Sentral is yet to be announced, he personally vouched that it would be at least 20 per cent lesser than the market price.
