Hilton to manage I-Bhd’s 300-room hotel at i-City’s ultrapolis

KUALA LUMPUR: I-Bhd has secured the expertise of Hilton Worldwide to manage its proposed 300-room hotel which will be built at the i-City ultrapolis in Shah Alam.

I-Bhd said on Tuesday the four-star hotel is expected to come on stream in 2018 and it would enhance the reputation of i-City as a business-cum-leisure hub in the western corridor of Greater Kuala Lumpur.

The hotel would be the second in the 72-acre freehold ultrapolis after the recent opening of the three-star Best Western i-City Shah Alam.

I-Bhd’s unit I-R&D Sdn Bhd signed an agreement with Hilton Worldwide Manage Ltd on Tuesday where it will operate the hotel.

The hotel is part of the RM1bil investment property portfolio that I-Bhd is setting up to provide recurring income for the group. This portfolio includes a 1.5 million sq ft regional shopping mall – CentralPlaza@i-City, three hotels, 8,000 car parks and data centres.

At the signing ceremony, I-R&D was represented by its director Tey Siew Thuan while Alex Dadak, director of development Asia, inked on behalf of Hilton. Also present was I-Bhd deputy chairman Datuk Eu Hong Chew.

Eu said the hotel, with a gross development value (GDV) of RM200mil, would cater to the demand of both the business community and travellers attracted to the host of leisure activities at I-Bhd’s 25-acre theme park.

He added the 4-star hotel managed by Hilton Worldwide would also complement the existing Best Western i-City Shah Alam in that it will offer a wider choice of accommodation for discerning guests.

“At the same time, plan is afoot for us welcome a third hotel come 2020,” he said.
i-City’s theme park and its various attractions are located on a 25-acre site which boasts of the City of Digital Lights, SnoWalk, WaterWorld and FunWorld.

“We have to date invested RM70mi in the various rides and attractions and plan to invest another RM30mil in the next few years,” Eu said.
