Malaysia Islamic Judicial Academy to be built in Bandar Enstek, Nilai

PORT DICKSON, June 10 (Bernama) -- A training academy, to be known as the Malaysia Syariah Judicial Academy (AKSM), will be built on a 12.15-hectare site in Bandar Enstek, Nilai, Negeri Sembilan.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom said the decision to build the academy had been approved by the government.

"The training academy will have various facilities such as swimming pool, hall and accommodation of five-star hotel standard, and will also offer training to foreign participants.

"Currently, syariah judicial training is held at various places including hotels," he told reporters after closing the 16th Malaysia Syariah Officers' Conference at the Army College, here, Wednesday.

Jamil Khir said the government through the Malaysia Syariah Judicial Department (JKSM) and Tabung Haji, the owner the land, were currently in discussions on the planned building of the academy.

"I hope the government will make this academy a reality, which would propel the transformation of syariah officers in terms of enhanced expertise in handling cases, and work performance and competency."

Hopefully, he added, the syariah officers would also be able to internationalise themselves in terms of skills, knowledge and attitude, for personal and professional changes for the better.

The three-day conference was attended by over 300 participants. - malaysianlaw.my
