PM distressed over missing tanker

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak expressed his worry over the missing Malaysian-owned tanker here today. In his Facebook page, Najib prayed for the safety of all 22 crewmen on board the vessel, 16 of which were Malaysians, and assured that the government would provide the necessary assistance.

"I am distressed by the news of the hijacking of a Malaysian-owned tanker. I pray for the safety of the 22-strong crew of which 16 are Malaysians. My thoughts are with their families. "

The government will deploy all necessary assistance," he said today.

The Malaysian-registered tanker MT Orkim Harmony was traveling from Malacca to Kuantan Port, carrying 6,000 metric tonnes of RON95 petrol and had gone missing since Thursday. Its last know location was 30 nautical miles east of Tanjung Sedili, Johor.
