Rembau Hospital project delayed, not abandoned

Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan dismissed claims that the Rembau hospital project was abandoned.

He said work was only delayed due to design problems and the hospital would be ready in 2018.

"I want to correct the terminology here, the project is not abandoned but delayed due to design problems," he told reporters after visiting the hospital site.

He said if the construction continued according to the drawing, there would be serious problems.
"Proactive actions have been taken by JKR (Public Works Department) and the Health Ministry, and the consultant has been removed," he revealed.

He said the structures built according to the drawing were also taken down.

"If we do not pay attention now and continue building, it will cause danger later," he said.

Mohamed also pointed out that the claims of the project being abandoned were irrelevant.

"Even if there were no issues, the hospital would be ready only in 2017, so how is it an abandoned project now?"

He said construction work was going smoothly and the contractors had promised to make up for the delay.

On June 28, The Malaysian Insider reported the Health Ministry’s announcement that the RM100 million Rembau Hospital in Negri Sembilan was expected to be completed in 2017.
