Woman murdered in Ipoh hotel room

IPOH - A woman was found dead in a hotel room with injuries from a sharp object on her head and hands.

The body of Khaw Suat Chee, 28, from Penang was decomposing when she was discovered in the room in Jalan Hussein on Thursday.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said Khaw had checked in with a man, believed to be her boyfriend, on July 28 and was to leave on Monday.
"She was found lying on the bed fully clothed and is believed to have died at least four days ago.

"There were no signs of forced entry or items missing from the room but the victim had head and hand injuries inflicted with a sharp object," ACP Sum said. The case is being investigated for murder.

In another case, a cancer patient jumped off the seventh floor of the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here at about 2pm on Thursday.

ACP Sum said Mong Kwai Seng, 59, from Taman Kledang, was diagnosed with the illness last year and had been warded at the hospital since July 13.

"Members of the public tried to stop him from jumping. He had earlier sent an SMS to his wife and children to bid them farewell," he said.

In Taiping, firemen found the body of an unidentified man in a burning car at the construction site in Kamunting Raya Light Industrial Area on Wednesday night.

The deceased was found in the driver's seat and was believed to have died from smoke inhalation.

The burnt Proton Iswara Aeroback car was registered to a 32-year-old lorry driver who worked at a latex factory nearby.

The car owner's wife told police her husband had gone missing after they had an argument.
